DENTAL VENEERS
IN PHILADELPHIA, PA
Dental veneers are wafer-thin, tooth-colored shells that are designed to cover the front of the teeth. They are made of either porcelain or resin materials and are custom-made for each individual patient.
A veneer is a thin shell of porcelain that your dentist can bond to the front of your natural teeth to cover up any imperfections, including chips, cracks, discolorations, and more. After placing veneers over your teeth, they become a permanent part of your smile and require the same care as your natural tooth enamel. You should brush and floss daily to keep your smile healthy and maintain regular visits with us for cleanings and exams.
Benefits of Dental Veneers
A porcelain veneer is a thin layer of porcelain that is placed over your natural tooth to hide discoloration, cracks, or chips. Porcelain veneers are stain-resistant and should last for years if they are cared for properly. Here are some of the benefits of choosing a porcelain veneer for your smile makeover:
- They are a great option for those with teeth that are stained or otherwise discolored.
- They can help hide any minor damage you may have on your teeth.
- They can make misshapen teeth appear straighter and more even.
Veneers can be placed on the front of the teeth that show when you smile. In addition to being an attractive solution to improve the appearance of your smile, they can correct the same cosmetic issues that tooth whitening can address. This includes tooth discolorations, gaps between teeth, small chips, or other minor imperfections of the front teeth. However, veneers are also often recommended for the purpose of hiding permanent staining that can’t be removed with a teeth whitening treatment. In some cases, they are even used as an alternative to crowns and cover the surface of the damaged tooth while leaving the tooth’s structure intact. This is typically done to help fix cracks, fractures, and small damage from decay. Unlike dental crowns, however, they are designed to be permanently bonded to the front surface of the teeth. This makes their removal very difficult without causing damage to the teeth underneath. After placement, they last for many years with normal oral hygiene. When cared for properly, they can be expected to last from five to ten years or more before needing to be replaced.
How Are Veneers Placed?
Veneers are used to correct a variety of cosmetic issues, including gaps between teeth, discoloration, crookedness, and worn-down enamel. In order to place them, your dentist will first prepare your teeth to receive them by shaving off a small amount of your tooth’s enamel surface. Then, an impression of your teeth is taken so that the veneer can be custom-made to fit your tooth perfectly. Finally, the veneer is bonded to your tooth using a specially formulated adhesive, which holds it securely in place.
Veneers are thin, custom-made shells that are designed to cover the front surface of your teeth. To learn more about veneers, contact Rittenhouse Dental Group at 255 S. 17TH ST., STE. 2807, Philadelphia 19103, or call 215-546-2311.
Patient Reviews
Posted on Google Neil WarshafskyAugust 12, 2026 I feel so lucky to have found Rittenhouse Dental Group! Dr. Huang and her team are the best. I was tired of large, impersonal, dental offices where I wasn’t sure anyone ever remembered me when I found this practice. Everyone at Dr. Huang’s office takes time ask me how I am in a genuine way and provide care that is clearly explained and sensitive to a my needs. Dr. Huang talks with me before any work is done so I know what to expect, and she makes sure I’m comfortable with her plan. Questions are welcomed and I have never felt rushed. The entire staff approaches patients in this same way. And, most importantly, the actual dental care I’ve received has been top notch. The dentist - great. The receptionist - really great. I don't know how she does it all - keeps track of appointments, coordinates with insurance, and still keeps a smile on her face. But the hygienist - AMAZING. She is so, so good at what she does. I had incredibly bad staining on my teeth from my daily coffee drinking habit. It was terrible and I was really self conscious of smiling. She cleaned every single stain off of my teeth - my teeth are beautiful now because of her work!!
